Mischa Kuball, active since 1977, is a conceptual artist renowned for using light to explore architectural spaces and social and political discourses. He blends public and private space in his politically motivated projects, fostering communication between the audience, artist, artwork, and public domain.

Kuball has held academic positions as a Professor for Public Art at the Academy of Media Arts, Cologne, since 2007, and was a Professor for Media Art at Hochschule für Gestaltung/ZKM, Karlsruhe, from 2006 to 2008. He joined the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences, Humanities, and the Arts, Duesseldorf, in 2015.

Honored with the German Light Award in 2016, Kuball’s work is globally recognized. His installations, characterized by their interaction with space and light, are both visually captivating and rich in meaning, reflecting contemporary issues and spatial contexts. Mischa Kuball continues to be a pivotal figure in public art, inspiring dialogue on the interplay between space, light, and society.
